The Bottom Line

The Raiders have lost 13 straight football games on the east coast because the team they were playing was better than them. The Jets were able to beat the Raiders 37-27 in New York last year but the Raiders got much better on defense and the Jets got worse on defense. Carr’s football and life maturity are beyond his years so I don’t see where the Jets defense as assembled is too much for him to handle.

If Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Bart Scott were be playing for the Jets Sunday, I would be less confident no matter who the quarterback is. But with the way the Raiders match up with the Jets now, a Jets blitz is just another opening for a Raiders receiver. For goodness sake, converted free safety Antonio Allen will be starting at corner for the first time in his career.

The Raiders can really make the Jets defense suffer with the no-huddle and empty the backfield out of it too. That would to offset the many looks and blitzes in the Jets playbook if they don’t think Carr is handling them well. So while most of the NFL believes Carr is being thrown to the wolves, he’s actually being set up to look like a hero and win his first NFL game.

Just win baby!
