Last week David Carr made the headlines for his role as a brotherly advisor for younger brother and Oakland Raiders starting quarterback Derek Carr ahead of the 2014 second round draft pick’s first ever National Football League start. Now leading up to the Raiders home opener against David’s former team in the Houston Texans the former first overall draft pick is now making headlines as a fan with ESPN’s Bill Williamson reporting that the eldest Carr brother may be taking a spot in what is the best section of the Oakland Coliseum.
According to ESPN’s Williamson, Derek told the media this week that his older brother may decide to watch his younger brother’s debut in Oakland inside of the Black Hole. Of course, David will be wearing a mask to conceal his identity which won’t be a problem as he has been showing Derek potential mask ideas all week to fit in with the diehard members of Raider Nation that fill the Black Hole every home game.
From ESPN:
"“My brother said he’s going and sitting in the Black Hole, all dressed up,” Oakland rookie quarterback Derek Carr said. His brother is David Carr. The former No. 1 overall draft of the Houston Texans, who just happen to be the Raiders’ opponent Sunday. If David is actually going to be in the Black Hole, he won’t be advertising it.“He has been sending me all kinds of pictures of different masks he might wear,” Derek said. “It’s pretty funny.”Does Derek think his brother, who starred at Fresno State prior to being drafted in 2002, will go through with it?“I don’t know, he might,” Derek said said. “I don’t think he wants to go to the game and have everyone see him. It’s California. Everybody will notice him.”"
It would be a once in a lifetime experience for David Carr should he go through with watching Sunday’s game from the most legendary fan section in the NFL, an experience that any fan of the Raiders should experience once in their lifetime and one that the former Texans quarterback would surely enjoy. Hopefully David dons the mask and joins Raider Nation on Sunday, but if he does don’t expect to notice him as he will be one with the rest of the fans in wearing a mask to show his support for the Raiders.
