A Great Tight End

Every great quarterback has a great tight end as a security blanket that’s consistently open with all else fails. I like Mychal Rivera a lot but the defense knows the Raiders are passing when he’s in because he doesn’t run block very well. And David Ausberry, who has made himself into a solid run blocker, is a converted receiver that can be special at tight end.

He brought his receiver skill-set with him to the position while bulking up and hasn’t lost any of his 4.4 speed. That kind of speed mismatch on a linebacker or 6’4″, 255 pound size mismatch on a safety or corner is going to give Carr a weapon. He can really hurt the Texans down the field out of play action because the tight end is the first guy the opposing defense loses track of.
