Oakland Raiders Film Room: Week 2 (HOU)
By Evan Ball
Bottom Line
At the end of the day it was a terrible day on defense. Oakland should be able to count on better play from its prized veteran free agents, who were brought in specifically to be leaders and get the younger guys up to speed. However, the offense did show glimmers of hope. While they couldn’t be consistent by any means, the Oakland offense was able to drive downfield multiple times and showed they could execute both run and pass plays effectively when everyone was on the same page and playing well. The blocking was largely improved over last week, especially in the passing game.
Still, what will be most remembered about this game are the two wacky plays: Watt’s TD catch, and Jones’ double fumble. Hopefully the Raiders will play better in future games and fans won’t have to see anything like that again.
