Oakland Raiders Film Room: Week 2 (HOU)

Houston once again utilizes 11 personnel ( 1 RB, 1 TE, 3 WRs) on 3rd and 9 in the second quarter in this power run against Oakland’s nickel (2 DLs, 4 LBs, 5 DBs). Oakland looks confused right away. With LaMarr Woodley in the game as an outside linebacker, LB Khalil Mack doesn’t know where to line up and is running away from the play as the ball is snapped. Again, Justin Tuck is easily handled by Houston’s right tackle and LB Miles Burris proves to be no match for the pulling guard. Houston TE Garrett Graham gets away with a hold on LB Sio Moore and Foster is through the hole and making people miss before he has time to recover. At the bottom of the screen notice S Charles Woodson running right to help out over the top of the two receivers split to that side. Those few steps quickly put him in a bad position to make a tackle, giving him a flat angle toward Foster before he eventually misses.
