Franchise Quarterback

Everything isn’t so pretty for him right now but Carr looks very much like he’s the future of the Raiders. It also looks like that future isn’t so distant as he is just missing on some throws that will come as this season goes along. As I mentioned in the opening slide, Carr underthrew deep balls to McFadden and Reece respectively that would have been touchdowns.

However, he did come back with a good deep ball to Andre Holmes at the end of the game but the Patriots saved the game with pass interference. Either way, even though I liked the game plan for yesterday’s game, Allen has to take the training wheels off now. Otherwise the Raiders will face eight and nine-man boxes and with defenders jumping short routs and-or blasting receivers as soon as they catch the ball.

As everyone knows, the deep ball and the running game goes together as teams will have to make a choice as to which one to stop. Even Jason Campbell made that work when he was in Oakland so Carr is surely able to manage a game that way. He just needs to complete a few deep balls and then McFadden can get going as he one man out of the box away from taking one to the house.
