In Carr We Trust is the New Raider Nation Mantra
The Real Deal
When the coaching staff talks bout how great Miles Burris and Khalif Barnes are, I turn the channel or a def ear to it. You know that’s a lie from watching those two play but they’re right when they say, a “It’s not too big for him.” when talking about Carr. Evidence of this is Pro Football Focus saying that Carr is the second least sacked quarterback in the NFL but the seventh most pressured.
Rookie quarterbacks get hit or sacked a lot because they’re not good with their pre-snap reads to call out their hot-reads and protections. Then as opposing coaches blitz rookie quarterbacks, they don’t go through their progressions and get rid of the ball quick enough. But those were points of emphasis when he was trained by his brother David (Carr), who took 76 sacks as a rookie.
Big brother told ESPN The Magazine of his developing little brother, “If I had to take some bumps so he doesn’t have to, so be it.” That right there is the main reason all you hear on television about Carr is, “It’s not too big for him.” Nothing is ever too big for someone that’s prepared for whatever it is and Carr has prepared for life as an NFL quarterback since he was 12.
