Unleashed at New England
The move by Tarver was much to the chagrin of Brady, who was harassed all day, hit twice and once real hard by Mack in the game. This was one of those games where even though his stat sheet wasn’t full, it looked like he was all over the place. Mack as well as the whole defense did well against the run so Mack had more passing downs to be a disruptive force.
Having the offense needing to convert 3rd-and-6 when you’re in a close game will give your pass rushers opportunities to make plays. So you can say the 3-4 helps Mack’s game in more way than one for the rest of this football season. The Raiders can stop the run with it, giving him more passing downs and he’s most comfortable in it as he has more freedom in the scheme.
Going to the 3-4 outside linebacker position seemed to energize him, turning up all aspects of his game. From looking at all three of the Raiders game this year, it looks like however Mack goes, so goes the defense. So to me, the defense is going to have a good rest of the year because Mack has been unleashed on the NFL
