Use the Whole Field

Carr needs to be more accurate with his deep ball as he could have had two touchdown passes against the Patriots. He missed one to Darren McFadden, who blazed linebacker Donte Hightower and Marcel Reece who blazed safety Patrick Chung. They could have been touchdowns from 29 and 37 yards out respectively and of all things with that big arm, he underthrew them both..

I really like the idea of going deep on the first play and taking shots at points throughout the game but the short pass will work. Miami corners Cortland Finnegan and Brent Grimes played off-man coverage against the Chiefs last Sunday. Carr is already good with throwing short passes so why not take them when the Dolphins are giving them away.

Plus it gives Carr a chance to get rid of the ball before the Dolphins’ front-seven gets there with all their blitzes. Bubble screens, smoke screens and screens out of the backfield will work because the Dolphins like to bring the house. Every once and a while, as the Dolphins get used to all that, Carr should try them deep down the field to catch them slipping for a big play .
