Start Fast
The Raiders need to start the game fast and when I say that, I don’t just mean that they have to start the game well. As a matter of fact, on offense, they need to start the game fast to start the game well with the no-huddle. This will throw the Dolphins defense off, not allowing them to set things up and create the urgency that the offense needs at this time.
Quarterback Derek Carr is actually already good in the no-huddle as that is what he is used to from his collegiate days. His completions will lead to more completions, first downs and eventually points—preferably a touchdown. And since the Raiders haven’t gone deep too often so far this year, they should go deep off of play action on the first play.
Yes, the Al Davis way because everyone expects the Raiders to try to get the running game going at the beginning. If they land a bomb for a touchdown, big gain or get a pass interference penalty, it will be just the shot in the arm the Raiders need. A rookie quarterback like Carr needs anything he can get to boost his confidence for the rest of the game too.
