A Strong Case For Jon Gruden Returning to Oakland Raiders

Bottom Line

We all know how competitive Gruden is so it’s killing him that his brother is a head coach for the Washington Redskins while he’s out. I think watching the Harbaugh brothers coaching against each each in the SuperBowl got to him as well. And this is a guy that doesn’t even need those two factors to want to compete at the highest level.

All the dead money is off the books and all the veterans McKenzie signed this offseason can be let go with no salary cap hits. So Davis will be more willing to pay Gruden his price and have G.M. Reggie McKenzie continue to build a roster. And if Gruden wants in own G.M., he’s probably going to get him because a great coach that players want to come play for is worth more than an unproven G.M.

Plus he and Gruden are tight and it isn’t like Davis has a bunch of coaches with Super Bowl rings that want to coach the Raiders. It also seems like Davis wants to right all of his father’s wrongs which is why he already brought Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen back around the organization. If you ask me, Davis always wanting Gruden back had something to do with why Hue Jackson was fired after missing the playoffs by one game.

In the back of his mind, Gruden wants nothing more than another crack at the Patriots in the playoffs during the Belichick era. He expresses his disdain for the Tuck Rule game anytime someone brings it up and you know he’s studied Belichick every since and thinks he has something for him now. He’s had his time off and now is as good a time as any as the Raiders are the team he’s always dreamed of being a part of.

Imagine Gruden with Carr for the next 15 years!

Davis would be able to fill a 70,000-seat stadium up again too!

Make it happen!

Just win baby!
