Raiders owner Mark Davis and GM Reggie McKenzie last night relieved head coach Dennis Allen of his duties, ending his tenure at 2.25 seasons with an 8 – 28 record after an 0-4 start to begin the 2014 campaign. While many have argued that this move does not improve the team, at least in the near term, it is not surprising that Allen was fired, especially after a nauseating performance against the Dolphins with an international audience.

Raider fans, bloggers, beat writers, radio hosts and TV pundits alike have all begun to speculate on the future of the head coaching position for the Oakland Raiders, with one clearly favorite – or at least clear person of interest – emerging. But if the Raiders have shown anything in their recent history, it is that anything is possible, and there are a number of possible directions for the team in finding their next head coach.
