As brief as it was, Darren McFadden is the last Al Davis pick to change the Oakland Raiders fortunes with his breakaway runs. When healthy, he is always among the leaders in the NFL in runs over 20 yards and in runs over 40 yards. But since he hadn’t been healthy very often, the new regime brought in Maurice Jomes-Drew to be the feature back.
Then Jones-Drew gets injured and and wasn’t effective at any point save for one run against the Green Bay Packers in the preseason. Meanwhile, McFadden isn’t getting the yardage he got back in 2010 and 2011 but he has shown he’s better than he was then. And what’s more is that this is the deepest he’s gone into a regular season without so much as being on the injury report.
So it’s time to quit all this trying to get Jones-Drew involved stuff and give McFadden the ball.
Turn to see why.
