Halfway through their 2014 schedule, Vegas have finally opened up action on the 0-8 Oakland Raiders to go winless this season as oddsmakers have added the prop bet to their list heading into the weekend. With a tough slate of playoff hopefuls the rest of the way (minus the St. Louis Rams) may feel the Raiders very well could go winless, but Vegas isn’t quite ready yet to make it anything but a longshot with eight opportunities left for Oakland to get into the win column.

According to ProFootballTalk, the Raiders are presently 10-1 underdogs to lose every game the rest of the way. Tasty odds that will entice plenty of bettors to lay down a play against the Raiders, but a betting line that ultimately fits the reality that there are still eight games in which Oakland can go out and get out of the 0-16 discussion.

From PFT:

"The Raiders have eight games left to avoid a winless regular season. Six of those contests are against clubs with winning records, and the Raiders could well be underdogs in all of their remaining games, just as they are Sunday vs. Denver, an 11-point favorite.Still, a Las Vegas sports book sees Oakland a relative long shot to join the 1976 Buccaneers and 2008 Lions as teams to lose every regular season game.As Micah Roberts of The Linemakers of Sporting News pointed out earlier this week, the South Point Hotel and Casino installed the Raiders as a 10-to-1 shot (+1000) to finish the regular season 0-16. This implied the Raiders had about a 9.1 percent chance to lose all eight of their remaining games. The “No” side of the proposition bet made the Raiders a -1800 shot to win or tie at least one game. These odds suggest Oakland has a 94.7 percent chance at finishing no worse than 0-15-1 on the season."

With eight chances to lose a bet, you would have to have some stones to lay a big bet against the Raiders losing every game the rest of the way even if they will be underdogs in every game they play from here on out. It may not seem like it after eight straight losses, but the oddsmakers show what is a fact in that it is still very unlikely that the Raiders lose sixteen games in a row to join the Detroit Lions in infamy with an 0-16 record.
