Don’t Want to See Miles Burris

As the late great football coach of Fresno State Jim Sweeney said to a player from a megaphone on his tower, “Hey kid, go ahead and get yourself outta there! I don’t think you can play for us! I love the game too much to watch you play it!” My old coaches line always comes to mind every time I see middle linebacker Miles Burris not make a play he should have made.

In his third year now, he is showing that he still can’t tackle or cover and it has really cost the Raiders in spots this year. He doesn’t diagnose plays too fast or shed blocks well either and those are the main things linebackers are supposed do to. This experiment with Burris at outside, inside or middle linebacker needs to end because it’s unfair for fans to have to watch it.
