The silver lining in the Oakland Raiders 52-0 loss to the St. Louis Rams might be that the team is now back in the drivers seat when it comes to landing the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft with their 1-11 record putting them in prime position to finish in last place come the end of the season with one of the NFL’s most difficult schedules.

Jacksonville’s come from behind win over the New York Giants broke the tiebreaker as the Raiders are now the only one win team in the NFL, giving them the power of the first overall pick through 12 games played with likely losses to San Francisco, Kansas City, Buffalo and Denver the rest of the way.

While fans want to see their team win as much as possible on Sunday’s, if you aren’t going to make the playoffs you might as well get the highest draft pick possible. That is exactly what the Oakland Raiders are accomplishing with a rookie quarterback in Derek Carr and a team that will have plenty of cap space come the offseason. Rebuilding isn’t fun, but the losing may just set up the Raiders in the position they want to be in come Draft Day.
