Round 6c Mychal Rivera

Tight end Mychal Rivera is one of four picks in the sixth round and I have to say now that this was a great pick by McKenzie. I wasn’t too fond of him in the beginning of this year because he didn’t block well and he dropped too many passes. He still drops too many passes but his blocking has improved, he converts on third down and scores in the redzone to make up for it.

I’m even starting to think that one more offseason of putting in work and he can be the Raiders No. 1 tight end. During his seven catches for 109 yards and a touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers, he showed the route running, hands and athleticism the Raiders need at tight end. Many have the tight end position being a need for the Raiders when the draft comes along but the emergence of Rivera changes that.
