There were a handful of times Fowler missed tackles in the open field. It wasn’t too common of an occurrence to be a major concern but enough to make note of, and something he’ll need to improve on.
The very next play, Fowler is predictable in his angle to the quarterback. The QB uses a simple evade move and Fowler misses the sack. Fowler has a tendency to over-pursue and would miss what should have been easy tackles as a result.
Another area Fowler needs to improve in is leverage and consistently winning at the point of attack. In this example, the offensive lineman got leverage on Fowler, put his hands in his chest and drove him back several yards. There were other similar examples on film, as well.
If Fowler doesn’t win with his first move, he has a tendency to get stuck. He also would struggle to disengage from blockers. Both are shown in this one example.
