Jaelen Strong Film Breakdown, Part 4

Like a lot of WR’s, Strong didn’t seem all that interested in blocking. There were times where he put forth a solid effort and there were times where he basically let his assignment run free. Here is an example of him blocking.

One thing that was concerning was inconsistent effort. Plays like this showed up a handful of times, particularly when he wasn’t the target on the play. On this one though, Jaelen is basically jogging across the middle, and it looks like he wasn’t even expecting the ball.

Here is a very good contested catch. A strength of Strong’s is using his body to box out defenders, creating space for him to reel the ball in.

We’ve seen a few examples of Jaelen tracking the ball well. Here is the Hail Mary play he caught to be USC. Sorry, USC fans…
