It’s not that I don’t like Mario Edwards, Jr.… It’s just that I don’t like him at the 35th overall pick. I do like that Edwards can play a variety of positions on the D-line. I don’t like that it’s half based on if he can keep himself in shape.

  • I’m also conflicted on where I’d want him to play. On the one hand he’s pretty good at blasting off the snap with some legitimate power, but he’s not actually the most effective pass rusher. So perhaps he’d better as a interior d-lineman. On the other, when he’s actually in amazing shape his speed and strength are a rare combination.

    He’s technically an athletic freak, and I can see a situation where he’s coached up into being a pretty solid player. I just don’t think that a high second round pick should be someone you have to coach up to do what you need him to do. Still, Del Rio is no defensive clown. It’ll be interesting to see what Del Rio can do with him.
