Scheme Fit

Richardson came to Oakland after being cut partially because he knows the Raiders scheme and fits it. Richardson, told Raiders.com “We went over the offense and saw a lot of stuff that I saw in college. I know this playbook already, especially when it comes to the run.”

The scheme Musgrave ran with the Minnesota Vikings is exactly what Richarson ran at Alabama. It was a little I-formation, H-back motion and double-tights that got Peterson over 2,000 yards under the Raiders new offensive coordinator. So expect to see Richardson comfortable, knowing the scheme, running hard and decisive with confidence.

Then the biggest thing, especially for a back like Richardson, is carries and he didn’t get enough. He never made that jump after his rookie year because since then, he got only 11 carries per game. Anyone would tell you can’t warm up enough to break a sweat on 11 carries and the Raiders are going to run a lot in 2015 while the Colts are a passing team.
