Center

Stephen Wisniewski is a pretty good center but he thought he was great when this past offseason came. He darn-near priced himself out of the NFL this offseason so the Raiders moved on from him. They figured if they’re going to pay top-dollar for a center they should do get a great one so they got former Kansas City Chiefs center Rodney Hudson.

And in the process, it took Wisniewski a long time to get signed for less that what the Raiders originally offered. Hudson is an elite center, that will at some point soon break through into the Pro Bowl. Most centers are smart and pass block well but there aren’t too many that can mash on a nose tackle one-on-one like Hudson can.

So while this gives the Raiders a good upgrade to help the offensive line, it makes the Chiefs weaker. Jamaal Charles will be less effective running the ball while Raiders running backs are more effective. Look for the Raiders’ 32nd-ranked running game and pass protection to improve with Hudson in the fold.
