Corner
Carlos Rogers and Tarrell Brown were the trusted veterans brought in to be the main corners in 2014. That didn’t work out and at one point, opposing quarterbacks had a rating in the 110s against them. Then young corners Keith McGill, T.J. Carrie and D.J. Hayden got healthy and the coverage improved.
And by the end of the season, with the youngsters, the Raiders were able to get that stat down to 96.6. In Week 17, when matched up on Denver Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas, McGill held him to three catches on nine targets. That in itself shows you the position is upgraded as the youngsters due to improve this year.
McGill looks the best of the three right now in camp, but the depth chart has Carrie and Hayden as the starters. There is so much time left for this competition to play out as the preseason has yet to start. All three should be solid this year and they have different strengths so they could select the starters by matchups every week.
