Quarterback

After all these years, we can finally say the Raiders have their francise quarterback for years to come. Derek Carr is the first franchise quarterback the Raiders drafted since the recently deceased Ken Stabler. And of all rounds, he was drafted in the second round just like Stabler was back in 1970.

Carr was sharp Friday, going 6-9 for 43 yards, no touchdowns and an interception that should have been. The miscommunication was a rookie mistake by Cooper, who should have changed his route from a fade to a slant. It looked like Carr signaled to change the route called because the corner had outside leverage and Cooper missed it.

Some teams make it an automatic change when a corner has outside leverage but Cooper will learn. Either way, Carr led the Raiders to two good drives on their first two possessions of the year. Carr was money in the red-zone last year as a rookie in this year, he looks like he can consistently drive into the red-zone.
