What I Want Next Week

Real simply, if this franchise is ever going to look like a truly professional outfit, then we need to see consistency. I want to see another relatively solid defensive turnout and hopefully a couple splash plays or turnovers. Most of all, I want to see consistency out of Bill Musgrave. He truly impressed me last week with his creativity, and I want to see the consistent use of 11 personnel and slotted tight ends.

I saw more creativity through the first week of the preseason this year than I did all of last season under Olson. If I were to pick the biggest winner from last week it would have to be Bill Musgrave, and if he can keep the Raiders momentum going for another week the belief is only going to grow that this team can compete earlier than expected with a new coaching staff.

Twitter Talk

@mangorlas: @holistic_pickle who will make the team out of these defensive tackles: Stacy McGee, Ricky Lumpkin, C.J. Wilson, Leon Orr?

McGee and Wilson.

@PugetZulu: @holistic_pickle which players will the coaching staff rely upon to address our pass-rushing concerns

Key will be nickel pass rush. Tuck and Edwards inside could be deadly, and Harris showed us some penetration. Depth is key, Mayowa and Valles need to be solid in rotation.

@USNFeatherman: @holistic_pickle a lot of discussion about our top 3 CBs, but who looks like they’ll make the 53 man roster at the 4th & 5th CBs?

Right now Thorpe and Ras-I. I think they carry six which would be Dexter McDonald filling out the depth chart.

@EricJoh24: @holistic_pickle here’s one… Will Ras I Dowling end up beating out McGill & Hayden? Does McGill move back to safety? And what about Thorpe?

No Ras-I wont be a starter. McGill will be the third cornerback who will push Carrie inside. I don’t see McGill moving to safety, I don’t like his open field movement and lack of tackling. Thorpe will stick around as a back end special teamer. Regardless of early struggles, Hayden and McGill are both highly talented and will show better as time goes on.
