PFF Stats Breakdown (Defense)

Honorable Mentions in Bold

  • Khalil Mack: +5.3
  • Dan Williams: +1.9
  • David Amerson: +1.7
  • Neiko Thorpe: +1.6
  • D.J. Hayden: +1.2
  • Charles Woodson: +1.1
  • Neiron Ball: +.8 – Ball had to leave the game with an injury, was playing another solid game until he had to leave the field.
  • Larry Asante: +.4
  • T.J. Carrie: +.2 I want to make a quick note here: 6 of the top 10 rated players on the defense were in the secondary, all scoring positive grades, and only Carrie came away with a negative grade in Coverage.  -.2. The secondary is improving, and starting to get into a rhythm with one another.
  • Ray-Ray Armstrong: -.3
  • Keith McGill: -.4
  • C.J. Wilson: -.4
  • Stacy McGee: -.7
  • Aldon Smith: -.8 – I call B.S. on this because his grade was greatly diminished by two absurd calls by the officials. The “tripping” penalty followed by an unsportsmanlike conduct call that he wasn’t even involved with. His -1.8 penalty is was prevented Aldon from having a +1 overall grade.
  • Malcolm Smith: -1.4 – I’m completely baffled by this one, Smith had an incredible game. A pick, a sack, 2 QB hurries, 10 solo tackles, and 5 stops in the run game. I guess a handful of missed tackles he was credited with hurt his grade, but I can’t see them undoing it that much.
  • Mario Edwards Jr.: -1.5
  • Curtis Lofton: -2.2
  • Shelby Harris: -2.3
