With the suspension of Aldon Smith for the year, many believed that Oakland’s star edge-rusher would begin receiving more attention via double teams and chip blocks from running backs, and as a result, his production would be negatively affected. Instead, Mack has accumulated 14 combined tackles, four total tackles for loss, including two sacks in the two games Oakland has been without Smith.
Against Tennessee, Mack put on another dominant performance, as he earned six combined tackles and two sacks to bring his total on the year to seven. Mack constantly made Mariota uncomfortable with relentless pressure off the edge, while he also held his ground in the run game often forcing the Titans’ ball carriers to turn inside.
The Titans finished the game with just 44 rushing yards, via ESPN.com.
