7. Derek Carr, 2014-Present

W-L Record: 8-20

Playoff W-L Record: 0-0

Passing Stats: 6,448 yards, 60.4% completion rate, 47 TD’s, 21 INT’s

Okay so it’s hard to write this less than 24 hours after he threw three fourth-quarter picks in a tough loss against the hated Chiefs at home with a possible Wild Card on the line. And it might be a bit much to say that he’s accomplished enough to not only be on this list, but ranked ahead of three quarterbacks with winning records who have led the Raiders to playoff berths.

  • But the eye test has to be worth something, and if you lined Derek Carr up with any other Raider quarterback – even some who will be higher than him on this list – you will not find a more talented passer of the football in Raider history than Derek Carr. Taken in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft, Carr won the starting job by week one, and become one of seven rookie QB’s in NFL history to throw for over 3,000 yards and 20 TD’s in his rookie year. Yesterday, Carr reached 3,000 yards again, becoming one of only five players in NFL history to throw for 3,000 yards and 20 TD’s in each of their first two NFL seasons.

Only 28 games into his career with the Raiders, and he is 12th all time in passing yards for the Raiders franchise, and ninth all time in passing touchdowns. He is currently on pace for 35 passing touchdowns this season, which would break Daryle Lamonica’s franchise record of 34 set in 1969. In fact, only four quarterbacks in Raider history have thrown more touchdowns in a season than the 27 TD passes that Carr has already thrown this year. Carr still has much to learn and prove, but he’s already established himself as one of the ten best passers that this franchise has ever seen.
