Week 14 Awards:

Player of the Game: Khalil Mack:

Probably the easiest decision I’ll have to make all week.  I already spoke in length about how great of a performance Mack had, but I think it is good for the Raider nation to sit back and be grateful that Mack is a Raider. This young man has the potential to be a generational stand out. I believe the best players of every generation, are just a generation or two ahead of everyone else.  They take what has been done, and build upon it combining all of their talents as well as motivation, and Kahlil is doing that.  We’ve got something very special on the Raiders.

Offensive Player of the Game: Derek Carr

In a tough game like this, when an offense played as poorly as the Raiders did in the first half, to be able to come back and throw 2 TD’s is a true testament to Derek’s resolve and his ability to lead a team to victory. This game was one by the defense, no doubt about it, but Derek put the offense on his shoulders and made sure the defense’s effort wasn’t for nothing.

It reminded me of watching old Joe Montana games, he’d just get pummeled the entire game, but at the end he’d have the poise to lead his team and score when the game was on the line.  I’m sure it’s a day Derek will learn from, and hopefully improve upon, but in the end we got the win.  It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win.

Defensive Player of the Game: Khalil Mack

The Raiders defense as a whole had the highest grade of any defense in the league, and Khalil was responsible for almost 50% of the grade.  Just like Carr stepped up his game when the team really needed him to, Mack stepped his up and made sure the Broncos couldn’t score again.  He put the entire defense on his shoulders and plowed through the Broncos offense line.
