Lamar Miller

With the other backs previously mentioned primarily being short-term answers at the position, Miami Dolphins running back Lamar Miller is the first guy on this list that could possibly develop into something special with the Silver and Black.

Despite the Dolphins parting ways with both their head coach and their offensive coordinator at different points in the season, Miller still provided a spark for Miami’s offense whenever he was given the opportunity. Even though he had just four games with at least 15 carries, Miller still managed to run for 872 yards and eight touchdowns in 2015. Even with the limited opportunities, Miller graded out as the fourth-best running back in the league, via PFF.com.

In addition, to their inability properly use Miller within their offense, Miami’s offensive line often struggled to open up lanes for Miller in the run game and failed to give Ryan Tannehill enough time to force defenses to respect the pass.

In Oakland, Miller and Murray could develop into one of the most productive tandems in the NFL, as the two would likely split carries almost evenly. Miller would also fill the Raiders’ need for a third-down back, as he has proven to be a solid receiver out of the backfield and an above-average blocker in pass protection.

With that said, a change of scenery could be just what Miller needs to revive his career.
