Taking a look at a dream signing and also a realistic signing for each position the Oakland Raiders will likely target in Free Agency.

With the start of NFL Free Agency just days away (March 9th, 4PM ET), fans of the Oakland Raiders are eager to see if Reggie McKenzie, Mark Davis & co. will open up the checkbook.

With nearly $75M in cap space, the Raiders can be major spenders in Free Agency, if they choose to. This hasn’t been McKenzie’s style, but due to the new CBA, the Raiders do have to spend more than $40M to reach the cap floor.

Now that the franchise tag deadline has passed, we also know which players will be hitting the market.

Let’s take a look at a potential dream signing followed by a more realistic option for each position the Oakland Raiders will likely be targeting.

Note from the author:

I wanted to preface the article with my thinking behind writing it. While I do think that Reggie McKenzie will be very active in pursuing free agents, it’s not realistic to think that he is going to sign eight of the top ten names out there.

The idea here is for each big name the Raiders are likely to pursue, an alternative name to lookout for is mentioned just in case the Raiders aren’t able to sign the big name player. There will be times where McKenzie isn’t willing to meet an asking price, or there will be times where a player just isn’t interested in coming to Oakland.

So again, I’m sure the Raiders will be active in free agency. I do mention in this article that I believe a few of the big names are realistic. The goal here is just to mention some alternative names in the event a big name player does not sign in Oakland.
