4. Quintin Demps

Former Houston Texans safety Quintin Demps has been a journeyman at the position to say the least, and even though he struggles to remain consistent, his flashes in coverage should be enough for Oakland to at least consider Demps as a competitive, depth player.

Demps, who will be 31 this year, recently finished his eighth season in the NFL with his fourth NFL team since entering the league as a fourth-round pick out of UTEP, as he has suited up for the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs, and most recently, the Houston Texans.

According to PFF.com, Demps’ coverage ability was his strength in 2015, as he earned an above average grade in coverage in comparison to most NFL safeties. On the other hand, Demps has struggled over the course of his career in run support, which should limit his ability to make an impact in the box.

In 2015, Demps recorded 61 combined tackles, six passes defensed, and one interception with Houston.

Houston is reportedly interested in resigning Demps, but the Raiders aren’t out of the market yet. With Oakland, Demps could play his way into a starting role if Allen isn’t getting the job done, but the likely addition of a safety in the NFL draft would push Demps into a depth or special teams role.
