3. Husain Abdullah

Former Kanas City Chiefs safety Husain Abdullah earned a top-20 overall grade among all NFL safeties in 2015, and even though he played just half of the Chiefs’ defensive snaps last year, Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller believes he could produce in a starting role.

“[Abdullah] wasn’t quite as productive in coverage as he was the year before, but Abdullah still flashed the ability to click and close with consistent burst,” according to Miller. “He’s a starter in many other NFL defensive backfields.”

Miller graded out Abdullah as the 10th-best strong safety in the NFL in 2015, despite not having top tier production. Abdullah had just 29 combined tackles and one pass defensed in 2015.

Abdullah, 30, would be another veteran safety that Oakland would have to bring in on a cheap, short-term deal, but he would be an obvious upgrade to Oakland’s current situation at safety and, unlike Demps, could compete for a starting role.
