Next up in Just Blog Baby’s coverage of the 2016 NFL Draft is a breakdown of Michigan State offensive tackle Jack Conklin.
Even though the Oakland Raiders signed Kelechi Osemele and re-signed Donald Penn, the team still has a need at offensive line. They could use an upgrade at right tackle, and they also need to start thinking about the left tackle of the future.
With the 14th overall selection, could that player be Jack Conklin?
Let’s get into the film.
Shawn Oakman is not quick, fast, or explosive in anyway. He beats Conklin around the edge and gets the sack.
Conklin’s biggest strength is his run blocking ability. First offensive play against Oregon, he clears a huge hole that springs a big run.
Conklin gets bull rushed and ends up being on the receiving end of a pancake.
Quality back to back sequence by Conklin. First play, he does a nice job of picking up the stunt blitz. Second play is a solid rep in pass protection.
Conklin gets juked pretty bad here, and almost falls over.
