Darron Lee: Prospect Breakdown (with GIFs)

Next up in Just Blog Baby’s coverage of the 2016 NFL Draft is a breakdown of Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee.

Lee had a productive college career, but really turned heads with an impressive showing at the NFL Combine.

With a definite need at the position, is Darron Lee the pick at #14 for the Oakland Raiders?

Let’s get into some film.

Plays like this are where Darron Lee’s lack of size and physicality are a concern. He needs to take on this blocker with authority and put himself in better position to make the stop, or at least to redirect the running back.

Impressive pass rush in this example. Lee does a great job to dip his shoulder and get under the block, and then forces a fumble with a hit on the QB.

Lee looks like he wants no part of Derrick Henry on this one. He takes a really poor angle and makes no effort whatsoever to make the tackle.

There are too many plays on film that look like this. Lee gets blocked and taken out of the play by the fullback.

Lee gets free run here to the QB, but his athleticism is obvious. He closes in on the QB quickly, lands a big hit and forces a fumble. There was a second play like this one in this same game, just without the fumble.

Lee ends up on the receiving end of a pancake.
