Safety Walter Thurmond III
Like most players available this late, Thurmond brings question marks about his durability. The safety is said to be contemplating retirement because of injuries.
Still, the Raiders could use bodies in the secondary. Thurmond brings experience as a starting corner and safety in the league.
He is familiar with the Raiders scheme. He began his career with the Seahawks, where defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. served as linebacker coach.
Although Thurmond did not lead the league in interceptions like fellow free agent safety Reggie Nelson, he is only 28-years-old. Nelson is 32.
Plus, Thurmond is a Hollywood native coming off the best season of his career, where he registered three interceptions and two sacks in 16 starts. The Raiders should give him a shot to see if he can build off that performance.
