Technically, Aldon Smith is still a free agent. However, he is expected to re-sign with the Raiders at some point. The team continues to support him as he serves his year-long ban. Therefore, he was left off the list.

It was hard leaving both former Washington defensive linemen Terrance Knighton and Jason Hatcher off of this list.

The Raiders expressed interest in Hatcher two years ago when he was free agent out of Dallas. They also were connected to Knighton last season.

Both guys are productive big bodies in the front seven. Each could help the Raiders as they implement more 3-4 defensive fronts. However, Hatcher is 34-years-old and Knighton is 29-years-old. Neither is still in his prime, so if the Raiders wanted one of them they would have already signed.
