T.J. Green, Clemson

T.J. Green, a one-year starter with Clemson, is a quick, athletic safety with above-average coverage skills due to his ideal length and blazing speed. At 6’2”, 209 pounds, Green’s combination of speed and athleticism has him soaring up draft boards despite his lack of college-level experience.

Aside from his lack of tape, Green is a poor run defender that has yet to prove that he can consistently wrap up ball carriers near the line of scrimmage or appropriately break down in space. Also, Green has the necessary speed and athleticism to produce at a high level in the NFL, but he still needs time to develop instincts before he can consistently bring in interceptions and break up passes.

In Oakland, Green could rotate in at free safety, but will likely spend most his time as a special teams player until he gains some more experience at the position. Given his high upside, Green should come off the board somewhere between the second and third round.
