Next up in Just Blog Baby’s coverage of the 2016 NFL Draft is a breakdown of Alabama defensive tackle Jarran Reed.

Reed is a talented player who seems like he’s flying under the radar, between players like Sheldon Rankins and Robert Nkemdiche getting most of the headlines.

Is he an option for the Oakland Raiders with pick 14?

Let’s get into some film.

This is Reed’s game in a nutshell. Strong at the point of attack, good extension of his arms, and then a run stop. His tape is filled with plays similar to this one.

Reed uses a rip move to get through here, but doesn’t quite have the athleticism to chase down the QB. Good clip that shows both a strength and where he is a bit limited as an athlete.

Reed uses a swim move here, and gets to the QB as the ball is being thrown, nearly resulting in an interception.

If Reed gets stuck, he doesn’t have a go-to counter move to get free.

Reed extends one arm to keep the lineman at bay, and then tracks the ball carrier across the formation and helps make the tackle.
