Paul Perkins, UCLA

Though undersized running backs face an uphill battle when it comes to succeeding in the NFL, UCLA’s Paul Perkins (5’10”, 208 pounds) is an exciting talent that will undoubtedly find his niche at the next level.

Perkins, a two-year starter with the Bruins, is a quick, agile running back with knack for making defenders look silly in open space. As possibly the most elusive back in this class, Perkins can become a human highlight reel when he consistently reaches the next level, but his small frame really caps his ceiling as a change-of-pace back in a tandem role.

Without ideal size and power, Perkins will struggle to produce in between the tackles. Also, when Perkins isn’t running a route in the passing game, he becomes a clear liability in pass protection.

In his final two years with UCLA, Perkins carried the ball 488 times for 2,918 yards and 23 touchdowns.
