Oakland Raiders restricted free agents Shelby Harris and McCants have formally signed contracts to remain with the team.

Two depth players on the Oakland Raiders roster have been given new contracts as the Silver and Black continue to make some minor moves in the final weeks leading up to the 2016 NFL Draft. Quiet moves being made by general manager Reggie McKenzie in the period between free agency blockbusters and the excitement of draft weekend.

Defensive end Shelby Harris and offensive lineman Matt McCants were both given new deals as restricted free agents on Wednesday. Both players being given the opportunity to compete for spots on the 53 man roster on an improved Raiders team come training camp.

NFL insider Aaron Wilson originally reported the new contracts of Harris and McCants. Two players who played sparingly for the Raiders over the last two seasons and will have to compete for spots after drawing zero interest as restricted free agents.

Both Harris and McCants are players who could potentially be training camp cuts this season, but the Raiders are keeping the two restricted free agents around to see how they progress. There is a chance that the pair of frequent members of the inactive list could make an offseason leap, but based on their Raiders careers so far don’t be shocked if one of the two don’t make the roster come late August.
