Nick Hjeltness: Chris Jones, DT, Mississippi State

Why I Like This Pick: One reason why I think Chris Jones will be the pick at 14th overall is because Reggie McKenzie basically said so in his pre-draft press conference.

Jones measured 6’5″, 310 lbs. at the Combine, and no other DT or DE is close to that description. Of course, McKenzie could just be blowing smoke, but a reason why I think he isn’t is because most people probably think he’s talking Robert Nkemdiche, who is 6’3″, 294 lbs.

If Jones is the pick, he’d be a perfect fit on the defensive line. He can play both on the interior in a 4-3 and on the end in a 3-4, and that versatility is something both Jack Del Rio and McKenzie covet.
