A’Shawn Robinson, DT, Alabama

Like Reed, former Alabama defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson watched himself fall out of the first round because of his inability to make a constant impact as an elite pass rusher, but his above average size and strength still make him a project-type player worth investing in at the top of the second round.

At 6’4”, 307 pounds, Robinson has a rare combination of size and athleticism, as he is capable of powering through opposing offensive linemen given his top-tier play strength and will shock his opponents at times with his ability to move laterally along the line of scrimmage. Whether or not he has polished his skills as an interior defender, Robinson will have an easier time perfecting his technique at the next level because of his NFL-ready frame and natural athletic ability.

Also, similarly to Reed, Robinson is extremely scheme versatile, as he has experience at multiple positions within Alabama’s defense and the size necessary to make ends meet all along the defensive line.

Robinson was already an extremely productive defensive player at Alabama with a lot of room to grow as he continues to develop his skills both as a run defender and in the passing game. He will need time to develop his technique in the NFL, but he would excel in a limited role in a rotation with Oakland’s current group of interior defensive linemen.
