Round 3, Pick 75: Shilique Calhoun, LB/DE, Michigan State

The Oakland Raiders are a team absolutely loaded with pass rush talent, with Khalil Mack, Bruce Irvin and Aldon Smith all on the roster. But in today’s NFL, you can never have too many able pass rushers, and so the Raiders took one of the best pass rushers left on the board in Spartans edge player Shilque Calhoun.

Calhoun was one of the nation’s top edge defenders last season, and has the size and physical tools to be a starting NFL edge player or at least a 3rd down pass-rushing specialist right away in the NFL. A former basketball player, Calhoun is a nimble athlete with impressive athletic measurables that helped him win a lot of battles in college. As a pro, Calhoun must develop better technique with his hands and show more toughness against the run, and if he does he could be one of the better edge defenders in the league. He’ll help the Raiders go deeper in the pass rushing rotation if he makes the 53-man roster this year.
