With Charles Woodson and Justin Tuck retired, which Oakland Raiders defender emerges as the leader?
The NFL Draft is behind us, and the Oakland Raiders can turn their focus towards on-field improvement.
As the team continues off-season programs, which players will fill the void left by veterans Charles Woodson and Justin Tuck?
On offense, the Raiders can count on Derek Carr as the leader. He took that role as soon as he took the field as a starter.
Carr described the new Raiders squad earlier this offseason:
"“‘There are barely any guys over 30 on this team,’” Carr said about his leadership role this year. “I sat there and I looked at it and was thought ‘It’s time to really take over.’"
Currently, they need the void filled on defense.
Granted, good teams require more than one leader. Moreover, the leadership role is not an exclusive title. Players can fluctuate in and out of the role.
However, the question remains – which player will the defense turn to when stuff hits the fans? Who is the vocal leader to rally the troops?
