Mychal Rivera

Surprise Cut

Rivera should make this team as a reliable receiving option. He has not been a distraction despite getting phased out on offense last season.

The third year player getting cut would be a surprise because he was Derek Carr‘s top tight end in 2014. Rivera fits the modern tight end who can catch the ball outside or from the backfield.

Unfortunately, Rivera leaves a lot to be desired as a blocker. Not to mention, he will compete with Lee Smith, Clive Walford and Gabe Holmes for a roster spot. Smith is the blocking tight end, while Walford and Holmes are slightly younger.
