Nate Allen

Surprise Starter

The Raiders drafted Karl Joseph at No. 14 to start. He will finally take the field with the team when camp starts. However, Nate Allen could end up at least as the Day One starter.

According to OurLads, Allen is the third safety. He would have to beat T.J. Carrie and Joseph. That should not be hard if Joseph struggles to recover from injury. Plus, Carrie might be needed at the corner position if D.J. Hayden can not improve this year.

Allen starting would be a surprise because he only played in three games last year due to injury. However, he is one of the team’s most senior players. Further, he was a ballhawk registering four interceptions with the Eagles in 2014. There is a reason Oakland re-signed him this offseason after he failed to live up to his expectations as a newcomer in 2014.
