Secondary dominates
Speaking of shiny new offseason acquisitions, this preseason game offers a first look at the Raiders’ revamped secondary.
No. 14 overall pick Karl Joseph may get held out as a precaution. Either way, Reggie Nelson and Sean Smith will see their first time in Silver and Black.
The entire secondary will get a test versus Cardinals pass-catchers Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown, Jermaine Gresham, and Michael Floyd.
After the starters, Oakland should continue dominating in the secondary. D.J. Hayden, T.J. Carrie, Neiko Thorpe, Nate Allen, and Keith McGill all have real in-game experience, despite staring as reserves this season. Look for them to play with some added swagger versus lower competition. They should not give up any big plays through the air, if Oakland wants to win their first preseason game.
