Reggie McKenzie has proven himself to be a salary cap wizard. He dug the Raiders out of cap hell and has built a talented team, all while keeping contracts team-friendly.

Part of that is not taking on dead money if it’s avoidable. In some cases though, it’s simply not. Here is a look at the dead money and the cap savings for the Raiders if these are the players that are released.

Note: These figures are from Over The Cap.

Taiwan Jones: $0 dead money, $1.15M savings.

Jalen Richard: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Joe Hansley: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Max McCaffrey: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

K.J. Brent: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Marvin Hall: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Jaydon Mickens: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Jake McGee: Unknown, but presumably the same as the other UDFA’s.

Nathan Palmer: $0 dead money, $525K savings.

Colton Underwood: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Ross Burbank: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Terran Vaughn: Unknown, but presumably the same as the other UDFA’s.

Mitch Bell: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Matt McCants: $0 dead money, $1.671M savings.

Oni Omoile: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Denver Kirkland: Unknown, but presumably the same as the other UDFA’s.

Branden Jackson: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Derrick Lott: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Drew Iddings: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Darius Latham: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Greg Townsend Jr.: Unknown, but presumably the same as the other UDFA’s.

Lenny Jones: $5K dead money, $445K savings.

John Lotulelei: $0 dead money, $600K savings.

Kyrie Wilson: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Chris Edwards: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Antonio Hamilton: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Kenneth Durden: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Jimmy Hall: $13,334 dead money, $443,332 savings.

Tramain Jacobs: $0 dead money, $600K savings.

Chris Hackett: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Keith McGill: $222,600 dead money, $488,700 savings.

Dewey McDonald: $0 dead money, $600K savings.

Andrew East: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

Giorgio Tavecchio: $0 dead money, $450K savings.

That’s only $240,934 in dead money, with 92% of that coming from McGill. The savings isn’t exact because these contracts aren’t guaranteed, but everything in that column amounts to $16.75M.
