How vanilla will the gameplan be?

Preseason is typically bland when it comes to scheme. Offenses run a very basic offense, and defenses largely run Cover 2.

The third preseason game is typically the one that starters play the most. As this is likely the final tune-up game for the starters, we’ll see if the playbook opens up at all.

One thing to consider, however, is that the Raiders also play the Titans in Week 3 of the regular season. For that reason, this game might actually have an even more vanilla gameplan than the first two games.

There really isn’t any good reason for the Raiders to show their hand in this one. No need to give Tennessee anything they might use in film study for their regular season matchup.
